Once upon a time, in a major metropolitan area, there were many people who were very happy. They had restaurants and museums, nights out at the opera and shopping trips to the biggest mall in the country.
They had good schools and enough food to have full bellies every night as they climbed into their soft warm beds in their safe warm houses.
And they did not see the children huddled in the backs of cars and under bridges and on park benches . They did not want to remember that not everyone had the same things that they had.
And...so they chose to not look. They chose to forget.
And the children were left without safety and without any hope for the future. And...night after night, these children struggled to understand why they had been forgotten as they huddled for warmth and waited to be saved.
